Johnnie Walker Double Black Label officially launched in the year 2011, previously only available in the travel market such as the airport. Not to be confused with Johnnie Walker Black Label, Double Black is a variant of the classic Black Label and not a wholly distinct new whisky of its own.
Johnnie Walker Double Black Label is easily identifiable with its translucent black bottle and an additional gold banding below the Johnnie Walker label. The general single malt and grain whisky remain the same. The key difference is the increase in smokier malts in the blend as well as in the use of sherry casks with a deep char which combine to yield a more rich and intense finish in the end product than standard Black Label.
